The Difference Between Air Duct Cleaning and Dryer Vent Cleaning

There’s a lot of confusion out there about air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. Are they the same thing? Do you need both? Here’s a quick rundown of the difference between the two services:

Air Duct Cleaning

Cleaning the complete ventilation system, from the supply registers to the return air grilles, is what air duct cleaning entails. This type of cleaning is required to remove dust, filth, and debris that can accumulate over time and cause health issues.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

In contrast, dryer vent cleaning begins at the root of the problem – the dryer. After removing the lint trap, clean the vent pipe with a brush or vacuum attachment. While both procedures are necessary for maintaining appropriate indoor air quality, they serve different functions. Lint accumulation in the vent pipe is a leading cause of dryer fires, thus cleaning the dryer vent is critical for preventing fires.

So there you have it – a quick overview of the difference between air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. While both are important for maintaining indoor air quality, they serve different purposes. Be sure to keep up with both in order to avoid any potentially hazardous situations!
